Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS) Course (8 Hour)

This 8-hour Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS) course is designed to provide law enforcement, tactical team members, and first responders with essential medical skills grounded in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) and Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) principles. The course emphasizes life-saving interventions in high-threat situations and prepares participants to manage trauma effectively during tactical operations.

Key topics include:

  • Phases of care: Care Under Fire, Tactical Field Care, and Tactical Evacuation Care

  • Hemorrhage control (tourniquets, hemostatic agents, pressure dressings)

  • Airway management and treatment of respiratory trauma

  • Tactical patient assessment and evacuation techniques

  • Communication and coordination of medical support in tactical settings

The course combines focused classroom instruction with scenario-based, hands-on training to develop proficiency and confidence under pressure. No prior medical certification is required; however, this course is ideal for personnel operating in high-risk or rapidly changing environments.

This course is MBFTE-approved and may be eligible for reimbursement for Minnesota fire departments.
